My Playlist

I borrowed this idea from Brene Brown’s blog (ordinarycourage.com). She recently made a list of the things that are currently inspiring her. I thought that was a pretty good idea, so I’ve decided to copy it (let’s be honest, there really aren’t any original ideas out there, we are all borrowers on some level or another). Anyway, here it goes:

#1: “White Owl” by Josh Garrels. You really need to watch the video to get the full effect. Needless to say, it’s been on repeat for about a week now. The entire album is so good and can be downloaded for free at JG’s site.

#2: Stained glass. I am starting my second class this weekend. My favorite part is soldering…the way the metal can transform from a solid to a liquid and back again in a matter of seconds is amazing to me. It is like a river of liquid strength. I am sure I will write more about this process.

#3: Vegetarian recipes. Don’t get me wrong, I am a carnivore of the greatest kind but in an effort to broaden my repertoire and save some cash I have begun to explore the world of plant-based proteins. Two of new favorite recipes are black bean quinoa burgers and white bean hummus. So tasty.

#4: Isaiah 54. The Bible inspires me and a good friend recently shared this passage with me in the midst of some hard times. I couldn’t be more grateful for these words of hope.

#5: My garden. There is something good for the soul about planting and growing your own vegetables. It’s also so fun to share!

#6: Little Bee by Chris Cleave. A friend sent this book to me for my birthday and I am just now reading it (my birthday was six months ago). The back cover blurb is the best I have ever read and totally got me hooked. Because of this, I am sworn to secrecy and will not reveal the contents of the story. Trust me, its good and the mystery is worth it.

#7. Counseling. As someone who grew up thinking that counseling was a crock, I can now say that I was wrong. A good counselor is worth every tear and every penny.
